REFERENCE NO. 29 OF 2025 AGATHER ATUHAIRE & 8 OTHERS v. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF UGANDA, THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA & THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY

The Applicants allege that the Respondent’s actions from 19 May 2025 to 23 May 2025 of the enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, and torture of Agather Atuhaire and Boniface Mwangi, including sexual violence and unlawful expulsion from a Partner State, are unlawful infringements on Articles 6(d), 7(2), and 8(1)(c) of The Treaty for Establishment of The East African Community as well as the Fundamental and operational Principles of the Community.
