Summary | The Applicants allege that Electronic and Postal Communications (Online Content) Regulations 2020 passed and gazetted on 17th July, 2020 are unjust and violate principles of democracy, rule of law, accountability, transparency and good governance, which the respondent is obliged to follow as per the EAC Treaty by restricting freedom of expression, introducing mandatory registration for online media, giving unfettered and wide powers to the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority among others and therefore violating Articles 6(d), 7(2) and 8(1)(c) of the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.
