REFERENCE NO. 42 OF 2025 KASITO ROBERT v. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF UGANDA

The Applicant alleges that the Respondent’s actions specifically the decision of the Court of Appeal of Uganda on 6 August 2025 in Civil Appeal No. 705 of 2023, which dismissed the Applicant’s appeal regarding unlawful termination of employment are unlawful infringements on Articles 6(d) and 7(2) of The Treaty for Establishment of The East African Community. The Applicant specifically contends that by declaring his appeal incompetent, misinterpreting his contract of service as an internship contract, and refusing to award remedies for unfair termination and withheld wages, the Respondent has failed to adhere to the rule of law and the protection of human rights as mandated by the Treaty.
