On behalf of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) and on my own behalf, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the Government of the Republic of Uganda, the family, relatives and friends of the late Lady Justice Stella Arach- Amoko.

It is indeed with deep sorrow that the East African Court of Justice learnt of the death of one of its former Judges. Justice Arach-Amoko served as a Judge of the First Instance Division between November 2006 and October 2008 and was later designated as Deputy Principal Judge, a position she served between October 2008 and June 2014, when her tenure at the EACJ ended. She was the 1st female to serve in that capacity of Deputy Principal Judge of the Court and was thereafter appointed as Judge of the Supreme Court in Uganda, where she served until the time of her death.

In the passing on of Justice Arach, the region has lost an honourable member of the bench who greatly contributed to the jurisprudence of the EACJ and served with dedication, humility, efficiency and integrity. The Judiciary of Uganda and the region have indeed lost a great legal mind.

We pray for all those dear to her, may the Almighty God grant you strength and comfort as you mourn.

MAY THE GOOD LORD REST HER SOUL IN ETERNAL PEACE.

Hon. Justice Nestor Kayobera

President of the East African Court of Justice
