East African Court of Justice, 9th March 2023: The East African Court of Justice convenes workshop to undertake its end-term review of the EACJ Strategic Plan 2018-2023 from 7th to 9th March in Moshi – Tanzania.

The Judge President Hon. Justice Nestor Kayobera officially opened the EACJ workshop to undertake an end-term review of the EACJ Strategic Plan 2018-2023. In his brief remarks, the President welcomed all the Judges and Staff of the Court to the workshop and noted that the end-term review is a necessary exercise to establish the extent to which the desired outcomes of the current EACJ Strategic Plan were met and obtain useful lessons for addressing unresolved and emerging challenges of the Court. 

Her Worship the Deputy Registrar, Ms Christine Mutimura, informed the Hon Judges and Staff that although the Strategic Plan 2018-2023 has enabled the Court achieve most of its desired goals over the past five years there is need for candid feedback on the same so as to inform the development of the next Strategic Plan. 

The end-term review process which is being facilitated by Dr Kennedy Ogollah from the faculty of Business & Management Sciences, University of Nairobi commended EACJ for the implementation progress of the Strategic Plan (2018-2023) and appealed to the Court to utilize the next Strategic Plan to implement Court’s pending activities and resolve its current challenges. 

The EACJ Strategic Plan focuses on the 6 key strategic issues and these include: Institutionalization of the Court, Design of the Court, Appreciation of the Court, Visibility of the Court, Capacity of the Court and Information Communication Technology of the Court.
